Miles Away from You
It's my sister's birthday today and I want to share this poem to her because I know how much she misses her husband who works in a cruise ship. Every year, they have to be away from each other. Every year, special occasions like birthdays are missed so, whenever he's home... they find quality time together... they take advantage of his short vacation... For years now, being apart is longer than being together.
The future is promising
And blessings are abundant
Working hard to provide
Even it means being away... miles away from home.

There are moments of joy
We're not able to share
There are moments of worries
With no shoulder to cry on.
There are times of sickness
I feel not your warmth
But I have to be strong
for our kids and their future.

Rare bonding... but to the max! |
I wish you were here when nights are cold
Thinking of you always, missing you like crazy
That's a sacrifice indeed
Just feel my embrace
never long for a hug
other than mine.
Remember me on those
longing moments
With my words less spoken
But my heart cries
out loud.
( For you my dearest sister on your special day)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!
it is really an ultimate sacrifice to be away from your family . working in other country would make you miss everything that your child have achieve and the embrace of your partner in life .
ReplyDeleteBeing away to work abroad is a sacrifice and many Filipinos manage to bear with the homesickness they feel just to give his/her family a better future.
DeleteIt's really hard to be so far from our loved ones. in your case, it must be hard because you grew up together. there may be times when we know only our sister can understand us. :)
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate your comment, Ms Che but pardon me if I let you misinterpreted my post. I made this for my sister. Her husband is away and I know she feels quite unhappy because they are not physically together on her birthday.
DeleteSo to avoid confusion, I made an introductory paragraph.
DeleteOh, sorry about that. Actually sometimes as we wanted so much to be poetic/artistic that they create confusion to readers. An intro you made is a good move to at least give the readers an idea on what message you try to convey.
DeleteSometimes, someone has to make sacrifices such as being away from a wife, children and family just to give a better life to your family and it's really hard. Other families emotional support are important so that the absence of a love one can somewhat ease the loneliness. You poem expressed the desires, longings, wishes and hopes of your dear sister. Happy birthday to her =)
ReplyDeleteDistance is a difficult burden but good thing technology has partly bridged that gap. Happy Birthday to your sister.
ReplyDeleteThe things people have to endure just to give our families a better life...sometimes it's difficult to comprehend what we can sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your sister. I feel how she feels being away from her partner in life. I've been in that scenario for 5 year and God so tough! But God is good He'll find a way.
ReplyDeleteThis is really tough, but for the sake of the family a lot of people sacrificed so as your sister and they become our hero, right?
ReplyDeleteSame case ... my family's together now though, migration is one of the options.. plus, winning lotto! lol!:) Happy Birthday to your sister!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet of you and belated for your sister. It's not easy to be away from our loved ones but all for the promise of the bright future. Thanks though to messengers and Facebook for constantly bridging the gap. :D
