When is the best time to send our kids to school? Is it ideal to bring an almost 3 year-old toddler to school yet and make him/her experience how it is to mingle with others... follow the teacher's instructions... and leave them without our presence in the first time?
Most mothers of today opt to bring their kids earlier compared to mothers of decades ago. The need for this may have a bunch of reasons depending on the parent. My second son and eldest daughter started school at the age of 4 and 5, respectively. Now, with my youngest Kiko, me and my husband decided to bring him to school at an early age of 3. We just want him to be exposed in classroom environment so that by next year, he'll be more ready to attend regular pre-school.
I'm aware of several private playschool and Montessori with high standards and excellent facilities but practicality wise, we prefer to enroll Kiko at Caniogan Learning Center: a semi-private, air-conditioned school near our place where thousands of toddlers and kids graduated already and still going strong for over 40 years with the same teachers handling the classes. Actually, my eldest studied in this same school as well and she will be in her first year college now.

According to experts at babycentre, on
the first day:
- Allow plenty of time. The chances are, your child won't be
prepared for you to just drop him off and leave on the first day, so be
prepared to hang around until he's settled.
- You'll probably be feeling just as anxious and emotional
as they are, but try to stay cheery and confident - children pick up on your
feelings of apprehension.
- Explain to your child when you'll be back.
- If your child cries and won't let you leave, ask staff for
advice. In most cases they'll ask you to stay for a while with your child in
the early days.
- When you've said your goodbyes, try not to worry. In most
cases your child will be enjoying their exciting new experience.
Some kids were constantly crying and some were leaving the room to find their mothers waiting outside but Mrs. Corteza was kind enough to leave the door open for a while to pacify them but my KIKO never showed any signs of tantrums except that... I noticed his overwhelming boredom. I just thought, maybe he's expecting some ACTIONS or ACTIVITIES that may stimulate his inborn intellect.
Congrats Kiko!!! Have a great time learning! ;)
ReplyDeleteChildren do start learning these days. At least they got to start interacting at a younger age.
ReplyDeletewoot.. great great.. may I asked why is he only the one wearing a uniform.. how many are they in class... the one pics with the TARAY look.. as if he is saying.. "I HAVE A NAME TAG.. I HAVE A NAME TAAAG.." hahahha.. congratz kiko
ReplyDeleteSmart kids usually expect some kind of actions kaya siguro medyo bored si Kiko but then good for him he never showed signs of tantrums! Congrats!!
ReplyDeletecongrats to kiko...
ReplyDeletena miss ko tuloy yung mga ganyan..
ung mga 1st day sa school...
Ganyan tlaga kapag bago ang environment, merong adjustment period :)
ReplyDeletewow! he looks so happy and excited in his first day in school. i noticed that they are still using a chalk board, i hope it would be changed into a whiteboard, as chalk dusts is not good for the health, especially kiko is seated on the front seat
ReplyDeleteThere's one thing I don't like about the teachers teaching the kids how to erase a black board. It gives them allergies and can lead to asthma. They can inhale the chalk dust and it goes right to their lungs.
ReplyDeleteBut, on a lighter note, it's good that kids are wearing their uniforms on the first day, but there might be valid reasons why the others are not.
Congratz Kiko. I'm wondering how old will my daughter will go to school. ^_^
ReplyDeleteKiko looks cute and smart in his school uniform. I can see the excitement in his face. Look at those smiles.
ReplyDeletehaha! ang cute! talagang complete uniform! :)
ReplyDeleteim excited as well for my daughter to go to school im kinda scared. but oh well! xx
ReplyDeleteI enrolled my son in school when he was 5 years old...and i remember then hindi naman siya umiyak unlike sa ibang kids kapag iniiwan ng mommy during first day of school.
ReplyDeleteKiko's adorable! :D Congrats on his first day in school! Anyway, this post reminded me of my days as a kindergarten student.. haha.. My yaya also stayed in the classroom for a few minutes 'cause I didn't want her to leave me.. :D Mas matapang pa si Kiko saken.. XD

ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting. We are yet to enroll my 3 year old in a daycare/nursery school. There's been a conflict of interest in the house so we are yet to find the right one for us.
ReplyDeletecongrats kiko!!! study very well ok? make your parents proud!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kiko, behave and listen to the teacher :) I remember my mom is telling me that I started school when I was almost 5 years old and I didnt cry, in fact I was excited to get to the class.
ReplyDeleteWow! Kiko is an official student now. :) Good luck to his classes.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kiko for being a student.i bet he loves it there. My son ,started schooling at age 3 too,my reason is to help him socialized with other kids. And now that he is turning 4 this month, there are a lot of improvement in him. yes, school is rrally the best for ids to form their early childhood
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww, Kiko is too cute in his uniform!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest is now almost at the end of her first year at what you can say is an equivalent of kindergarden here in the Netherlands. I feel being the youngest of our three daughters she was very excited to be like her older sisters, and that made it easier for her transition, as well as ours.
Well, I look forward to learning more of Kiko's adventures at school! Keep it up, young man. :)
Heheh i cannot fully remember the time i first went to school. What I am certain of is that I had several crushes.
ReplyDeleteNice one. Congratulations for surviving the 1st day of school, Kiko. Hehe
